 Venice Film Festival 2010
The line-up for the Venezia 67 film festival has been announced: The Forgotten Space, a Dutch-Austrian co-production by Allan Sekula and Noël Burch will be presented in the Orizzonti-Section. The four Austrian short films shown in the Orizzonti short film competition include: Shadow Cut by Martin Arnold, Mouse Palace by Harald Hund und Paul Horn, The Future will not be Capitalist by Sasha Pirker and Coming Attractions by Peter Tscherkassky.
 Un Certain Regard 2010: Fipresci-Prize for Pál Adrienn
Ágnes Kocsis’s Pál Adrienn, a Hungarian/Austrian/French/Dutch co-production, was selected the winner of the Fipresci Prize from the Certain Regard line-up at the 2010 Cannes festival.

 Christian Berger wins ASC prize for The White Ribbon
Christian Berger won the top feature film prize for The White Ribbon at the 24th Annual American Society of Cinematographers Outstanding Achievement Awards. The White Ribbon was the first black-and-white film since The Man Who Wasn’t There (2002) and the first European movie since A very Long Engagement (2004) to be awarded this major distinction for cinematography. Christian Berger is also Oscar-nominated for best cinematography.

Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon , which won the Palme d’Or and EFA Awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay and Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film has been chosen for the shortlist in the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar category. Moreover director of photography Christian Berger was nominated for Best Cinematography.

The Academy unveiled its shortlist for this year's Best Foreign-Language Film Oscar. Michael Haneke’s Golden Globe winner The White Ribbon is one of the nine films competing for Oscar nomination. The five Oscar nominees will be annonced on February 2.

Haneke’s Caché Best Film of the Decade The Times has published a list of the Best 100 films of the Noughties confering the honor of Best Film of the Decade to Michael Haneke’s Caché followed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy) and Joel & Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men). A second Haneke entry on the Times’ Top 100 list was granted to The Piano Teacher as n° 85.
 Prix Arte 2009: Three Nominations for Austrian coproductions
Ten documentary films have been nominated for the European Film Award - Prix Arte 2009. This year’s selection of Europe’s most outstanding documentary films includes three Austrian coproductions: Cooking History by Peter Kerekes, Defamation by Yoav Shamir and Pianomania by Lilian Franck & Robert Cibis.
 The White Ribbon: FIPRESCI’s Best Film of the Year
At the opening ceremony of the San Sebastián Film Festival, Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon will receive the FIPRESCI Grand Prix 2009 for the Best film of the year. The Grand Prix distinguishes a film from the current season for its overall artistic quality. The White Ribbon, Palme d’or winner 2009, was chosen by 223 critics throughout the world.

 La Pivellina: Best European Film in the Directors’ Fortnight
Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel’s La Pivellina has been awarded the Europa Cinemas Label as Best European Film in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival. La Pivellina will now receive the support of the Europa Cinemas exhibitors who commit themselves to extend the length of its run on screen and additional promotion across the network.

Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon will be one of the 20 contenders for the Palme d’Or at the 62nd Cannes Festival (May 13 - 24). Austria’s second Cannes entry is La Pivellina a first fiction feature by documentary filmmakers Tizza Covi & Rainer Frimmel, that will be showcased in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs.

Yoav Shamir’s original analysis of the complex subject of anti-Semitism won a Special Jury Mention at the Tribeca Film Festival (April 22 ? May 3rd)
 REVANCHE nominated for OSCAR
Götz Spielmann’s Revanche is one of the five nominees competing for the Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Spielmann’s fourth feature length film, a suspenseful and subtle drama on revenge and reconciliation, premiered in Berlin’s Panorama last year and has been awarded at numerous international film festival. The ceremony for the 81th Academy Awards will take place on February 22. The other contenders are:

Götz Spielmann’s drama Revanche is one of the nine contenders for the nomination for the best foreign-langage film award which have been selected out of 65 submissions from different countries all over the world. The final five Oscar nominees will be announced on 22 January.
